Last week, I thought Spring had finally Sprung, then I woke up this morning to find a winter wonderland outside my window. #notcool #bringbackthesun
I should have known that we coudln't escape the winter that quickly and easily. So now that I'm cooped up inside again, I thought I would catch up on what we have been up to lately.
Last weekend we decided to head to the park. The walking trail runs right behind our back door (literally, you walk out the back door, take 4 steps and you're on the walking trail), and its a quick walk, about a block, over to the park. We loaded up with Bubba's bike, a frisbee, soccer, and baseball to have some fun and soak in the sun.

Dad being a great role model of climbing up the slide while someone is trying to slide down......did anyone else know that I am raising not 1, but 2 boys? #funfact #boymom
"Let's see who can jump off the farthest."
We have been working on Landon riding a bike without training wheels for over a year (insert frustration here), with no success. I mean, we tried everything. Good cop, bad cop. Balance bikes. Rewards. Peer pressure. Family. Friends. Nothing worked and everything ended in tears. Then last weekend, I just looked at him and said, "You are going to fall. That's just part of riding bike. You fall off, but then get back on and try again." I don't know if it was the pep-talk/threat, or if it finally just clicked, but that kid hopped on his bike and just took off. Like it was that simple. Like he had been doing it for months secretly. He was so proud of himself and we were too. When we got back home he told me, "That is such a big accomplishment for me mom." Ummm....tears. Why does he have to be so big? How did he get so smart? When did he start using big words like 'accomplishment'?!
We met up with some close family friends of ours that just got this fun new toy....
And we took a cruise to supper. Their daughter is off at college now, but babysat Bubba for us ALL THE TIME growing up, and I used to take care of/chauffeur her and her brother around while I was in high school. She was home for Spring Break so it was nice to see our Bailey!
I also decided last week that the apartment needed a MAJOR spring cleaning overhaul. It is amazing the amount we have accumulated for being here not even a year. I tackled my closet first. Check out all these hangers...I was very proud of myself. :)
Then I moved on to Bubba's room. THIS KID. Oh my. What is the term I'm searching for........oh yeah, SPOILLED ROTTEN. His room is pretty large, and there were so many toys and outgrown clothes, you could barely even walk in his walk in closet. Not to mention he still has 1/2 the garage full of toys we haven't even brought in.
This is after I pulled everything out of the closet and started sorting. YIKES!
This is one side of his closet after. Much better. To the left I moved a bookshelf into the closet to hold toys and there are toy bins on the floor next to it to hold larger objects. It's not perfect, but SO MUCH better than it was before.
This pretty piece of paper found it's to way to our mailbox finally. :)
I have been searching high and low for a pretty Spring/Easter wreath. I wanted something that I could use for Easter and through the rest of Spring so I wouldn't have to get two separate wreaths. After a couple weeks of looking and not finding anything, I decided to channel my inner Joanna Gaines and make one myself. I went to Hobby Lobby and picked up a grape vine wreath form, a strand of magnolia leaves, and one bouquet of magnolias. This was hands down the easiest wreath I have ever made!! I just secured the leaves and flowers with some floral wire and BAM--finished.
I love it's simplicity and is perfect for our door for Springtime.
Yesterday for St. Patrick's Day, we woke up to find some sneaky leprechauns had made us green pancakes and milk for breakfast.
Then afterschool, we enjoyed some Lucky Charms treats with green Kool-Aid, and corned beef with cabbage for supper.
Landon was very happy that the leprechauns didn't mess up our house...and this mom was too ;) Last year he called them "leffercons", and it was the cutest thing ever.

I am not a sports person at all, but Cory is, and with basketball in full swing, it's like living with a crazed fan. I got this text from him yesterday...
Let's just say his mood wasn't this chipper around 11:00 last night.......I just went to bed quietly and let him sulk. ;)
Then this is what we woke up to this morning......
Springtime vibes...KILLED.
That's what we've been up to lately......
Happy Fri-YAY! :)
