This past weekend, my very best friend's little brother got married. That may sound like a mouth full, but he is basically like a little brother to me, too. The Sanders' house was my 2nd home growing up, and still is. They are family. So of course, when it was time for my little Ty Ty to tie the knot, I wasn't going to miss it for the world!
Flash back to last summer, when Ty broke the news that he was going to pop the big question!! He confided in Nicole and I for a little help (duh) to find that perfect ring.
*(Side note: I am the MASTER at secret jewelry shopping for this family. The first piece of jewelry Ryan got Nicole when they were dating, her engagement ring, anniversary gift, and now Mary's engagement ring. I should seriously start a business of secret jewelry shopping services.)

This "casual" day of lunch and "errands" was code for "mission find Mary the most perfect ring". We completed our mission (again, DUH) and helped Ty find the most stunning ring.
Flash back forward to the present.

I was all set to flight out Wednesday afternoon and be in Missouri by midnight. I left the boys with a little treat while I was away...
And Bubba gave me this cute note of how he was going to miss me and made his own "meal plan" for him and Cory. HaHa-I love how he included "leftovers"...such a momma's boy. ;)
Little did I know I was about get a bigger adventure than I had prepared for.....
My first flight was to Chicago where I would connect and fly to KC. We left Bismarck no problem and the flight went fine until we got to Chicago. As we approached our pilot came over the intercom and told us we were in a holding pattern and it would be about 20 minutes. Ok. 45 MINUTES LATER of circling Chicago in the sky, the pilot came over the intercom again and announced, "Um, folks, we are about out of fuel, I have switched over to the back-up tank but for your safety and mine we need to divert to land and refuel." Okkkkkkk.
Reroute. Land in some small town of corn and bean fields. Pull up to the gate to refuel. Pilot over intercom again, "Hey folks, it looks like our hydraulics were also going out so we have called a mechanic, should be about an hour or two. We are going to deplane." OKKKKKKKKKKK.
Missed connection to KC. Have already been rescheduled twice via email.
I got to talking with a girl in the bathroom and ended up finding out that we went to college together, and knew so many of the same people and even had some classes together. So we made the best of our situation and hit up the airport bar.
Our plane issues had been resolved and we re-boarded. At this point, I was JUST going to make the red eye into KC. Pilot over intercom, "They are still in holding pattern over Chicago, so have will be here another hour or so." 20 minutes later. "Well folks, we are grounded here for the night." OKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!????? "Oh, and there are no rental cars or bus services at this airport. They have all been pre-booked."
As you can imagine, everyone became mildly agitated (to put it nicely). People were so desperate to get out of this tiny town to Chicago (like a 2 hour car ride) that one guy literally took a $250 Uber ride there.
My "new and soon to be very close" friend, her boyfriend and his friend, and I all decided to get a hotel-and luckily we did. We got to the hotel, grabbed an Uber to the nearest sports bar, and got a much needed drink and burger. We got back to the hotel around midnight, and me, my friend, and her boyfriend all cuddled in the King size bed in our room to catch a quick 4 hours of sleep before heading back to the airport in the morning.
Can you say new best friends, because thats what happens when you're stranded in a small town in the middle of Illinois with limited options in transportation and accommodations. #hellonewbestie
We were scheduled to leave Peoria (the tiny town we were stranded in that none of us could remember the name of) at 7am, but didn't actually leave until 8:30am because #smalltownairportprobs.

We finally made it to Chicago 19 HOURS LATER!!!!!!!! 19 HOURS people. The normal flight time from Bismarck to Chicago is 2 hours. HA! Some people had to sleep in said small town airport and had not eaten until we got to Chicago since we left Bismarck the day before at 3:30. I just made my flight to KC, and dear old Daddy was there at the airport to pick me up. I could finally enjoy the wedding weekend.
And it was a beautiful one! I've already blabbed enough to fill half of a text book, so I'll just leave pictures from the rest of the weekend to feast your eyes on.

And as fast as I was there, I was gone. Sunday morning I flew back to Bismarck. It was such a quick trip, and my journey home was FAR less eventful then my journey there. It was a weekend for the books!!
