So I'll just get right to the point--We're getting married!!! A lot of people are all like,
But I'm just over here like,
Poor Cory hasn't heard the end of it.....but it doesn't make us any less excited.
No, we have not set a date yet, but trust me when I say, the planning is in full swing. If you know me well, you know that I may or may not have been planning my wedding since I was 9 years old and that I am a hardcore type-A listmaker, organizer, planner. #GodBlessCory
Many friends and family have asked how he popped the big question, so heres how it went down:
Cory, Landon and I always do presents just the three of us before haivng Christmas with either side of our families. This year, we decided to do it Friday before Christmas, knowing that we would have Christmas with his family that night and fly out Saturday morning to have Christmas with my family in Texas.
So of course, Friday morning, Landon woke up bright and early and could not wait another minute to open presents. Fresh outta the shower, clean pjs and no makeup kinda early. We all opened presents, and once we were done, Cory said, "Landon, should we let mom open her last present?" And I was like ummm.....what are you talking about? (Sidenote: earlier this fall I asked (begged) Cory to get us this new headboard I had found for our bedroom, and agreed that it would be my Christmas this year. Up until Christmas he kept saying things like "Good thing you already got your gift", so I was not expecting anything.) Ok back to the story. Landon said Yea! and told me I had to go hide and he would let me know when I can come out. Ooooooookkkk????
So I waited in our room for a few minutes then got the all clear to come out. When I got out to the living room, both Landon and Cory were sitting on the couch with guilty grins on their faces. I asked them where my present was, and they told me I had to find it, and that it was hidden on the tree. At this point, I was certain they either had A: bought some sort of gross reptile as a pet and it was going to jump out of the tree onto me, or B:Landon had made me a craft or soemthing at school for me. So I kept looking carefully, and then-there it was. Hanging on a green ribbon on a branch high in the tree, the prettiest diamond ring I ever did see. My heart stopped and I obviously started sobbing. By the time I realized what was happening and turned around, Cory was behind me on one knee with Landon right beside him and asked the aged-old question, "Will you marry me?" Honestly, after that it's all kind of a blur. I mean, I'm pretty sure I said yes, but I faintly remember asking several times "Are you sure? Are you sure?
He was sure. We celebrated and called and face timed family and friends to share the news all morning.
We don't have any pictures of the moment, THANK GOD, but it will always be in my memory. It wasn't the huge-over the top-hire a secret photographer-send me on a big adventure-prepare a flash mob dance-enagement and I'm happy it wasn't. I'll be honest, I always thought thats what I wanted. Until the moment happened. And it was us. Just us. The three of us. The way it always has been and how we always are. Us, in our element, together at home. Pure Perfection. I couldn't have asked for anything better.
The thing I was most surprised at was that Landon had known Cory was going to do it and kept the secret for OVER A WEEK!! What?!?!?! Since when could he keep a secret that big for so long?! I was amazed.
In lieu of pictures from that day, a little walk down memory lane form the last 9 years or so.....
